Camp Description

Camp Curiosity hosted by the Durham Museum of Life and Science at Montessori Community School is a science camp built around the power of community. Because science thrives on collaboration, our camp experiences are designed to bring campers together through teamwork and shared discovery. We combine exciting, hands-on science activities with recreation that emphasizes communication and team building, all while making the most of the beautiful Montessori Community School campus—enjoyed exclusively by our campers.

Each day, the entire camp comes together for Curiosity Circle, a time to sing songs, laugh at skits, and share stories and discoveries from the day. These gatherings help campers connect with one another, explore play opportunities across campus, and burn off energy. Every morning, campers also choose from a variety of activities, including field games and staff-led science and engineering experiences.

Throughout the day, campers meet in Montessori Community School classrooms to explore themes and curriculum developed by the Museum team. Our goal is to create meaningful, memorable experiences that highlight science as a powerful way to understand the world. Every activity is designed to be hands-on, engaging, and fun.
